Curved Tempered Glass

Curved tempered glass combines the aesthetically pleasing curved form of glass with the superior safety and strength provided by the full tempering process. The glass sheet is heated in special bending furnaces until it reaches its softening point and then placed onto pre-prepared molds. Immediately after taking the shape of the mold, the glass is rapidly cooled during the tempering stage. This process allows the curved glass to achieve 4 to 5 times the impact resistance of standard flat tempered glass.
Curved tempered glass offers architects unlimited creative scope for revolving doors, cylindrical facades, curved railings, and structural designs that enrich interior aesthetics. Even if broken, it retains its curved form, shattering into small, harmless pieces, ensuring the design can be realized without compromising safety.

Where Curved Design Meets Structural Strength

The production of curved tempered glass, unlike flat tempering, requires the glass to emerge from the furnace while maintaining its curved shape. Akcam, using special molding technology and precise heating/cooling profiles, minimizes optical distortions at the bending point. This ensures a clear and smooth image even on the curved surface of the glass.
